Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Emily Uppstrom and I am incredibly excited to share that I am a new member of the Heuvelton Central School District family (GO BULLDOGS!)! I am an Elementary Special Education Teacher and will be serving students in grades 3, 4, and 6 this year. I earned my B.A. degree at SUNY Potsdam (2016), during which time I studied Sociology, Psychology, and Human Services. I loved SUNY Potsdam so much that I returned shortly after to earn my Master of Science in Teaching (M.S.T.) in Childhood Education degree (2019). I obtained my Students with Disabilities certification through courses offered at Mercy College and The College of Saint Rose.
In my free time I enjoy kayaking, snowshoeing, fishing, cooking, and basically anything else that is fun! My most favorite activities usually involve my fiancé (Andrew), our Chocolate Lab (Molson), and our cat (Gemma). We love to do anything outdoors, and have been recently spending the majority of our time on building our home, which resides in the Heuvelton district.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to teach, collaborate, and grow with the students, staff, and community members of the Heuvelton community. I value relationships and truly feel that they are one of the most important keys to success! I know that this will be a time full of learning, not only for the students, but for me as well! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
