Orientation Night

HCS Virtual Orientation Night for Grades 1-12

Wednesday, September 1, 2021

Welcome back!  Orientation Night is a time for parents with children in Grades 1-12 to become familiar with their child(ren)’s teachers for the 2021-2022 school year.  Due to recently higher community transmission rates, orientation will be held virtually this year.  Like last year, teacher orientation videos will be posted for family viewing on the school district website by 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1.  This will give students and families an opportunity to learn more about their teacher(s), course content, class expectations, and more.

Pre-K Orientation is Wednesday, August 25th (in-person)  The AM Pre-K Orientation will begin at 6 p.m.  The PM group Pre-K Orientation will begin at 6:45 p.m.  Please do not arrive early, as it will interfere with the AM groups’ time.  Upon arrival, students and families will enter through the Elementary entrance, where you will be greeted by Mrs. Rishe and Mrs. Woodcock in the Pre-K classroom.  You will have a quick tour of the learning space, then head to the Elementary playground.  Once all students and families have toured the classroom, Mrs. Rishe and Mrs. Woodcock will join everyone on the playground.  The time will end with a bus tour for students by Mr. Basford.  Due to current community transmission rates, note that masks are required indoors and on buses.  Individuals may wear masks based upon their preference while outdoors.  Please maintain 3’ social distancing.

Kindergarten Orientation is Friday, August 20th (in-person) TOMORROW!  The original Kindergarten Orientation date of Thursday, August 26 has been cancelled.  Kindergarten students and families will meet Mrs. Mashaw and Mrs. Simmons on the Elementary playground from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.  Students will have time to play while teachers provide information to families regarding the upcoming school year.  Face masks are recommended, though individuals may wear masks based upon their preference while outdoors.  Please maintain 3’ social distancing.

Transitioning/New Students   Students entering grade 7 and grade 9 will be in a new location within the building.  For that reason, those students are invited to a self-guided tour of the building between the hours of 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Monday, August 23 and Tuesday, August 24.  Students may use this time to locate and open lockers, and become familiar with classroom locations.  Any students newly enrolled to the district are also invited to tour the school at this time.  For those new students, maps are available in the office.

Due to current high community transmission rates of COVID-19, note that masks are required indoors.  Individuals may wear masks based upon their preference while outdoors.  Please maintain 3’ social distancing.
