Support During the Federal Government Shutdown

The ongoing federal government shutdown is creating stress and uncertainty for many families in our community and across New York, especially those who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), with funds anticipated to be cut off on November 1.  We want to acknowledge the potential impact this shutdown may have on the ability for families to buy groceries if SNAP benefits are delayed or interrupted.  Please know that the well-being of our children, families, staff, and community members are a top priority.

Our school will continue to offer free breakfast and lunch to all enrolled students every school day.  We are also working closely with our local partners to make sure you have access to other food and support outside of school.  We have gathered a list of local resources, like food pantries and community meal programs, that can help offset any temporary hardship.  Please see the list below for contact information and details on how to get assistance.

For those in our community who are in a position to help, our local resource organizations are in urgent need of support.  Donating money or non-perishable food to these local pantries and assistance programs is a powerful way to ensure our neighbors have what they need to feed their families.  Every contribution, no matter the size, will directly support our students and community members facing this hardship.  You may direct questions to the contacts below about areas of specific need.  Thank you for your continued partnership and for coming together to help one another.

You may visit https://www.ny.gov/services/apply-snap or call (800-342-3009) for more information and updates on SNAP and the impact of the federal government shutdown.
