HCS Food Pantry
The Heuvelton School Food Pantry is temporarily suspending services until construction on our new space at Heuvelton Central School is completed in the fall of 2026.
Until we return to Heuvelton Central School, our gracious community partners at the Heuvelton United Methodist Church, St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Lisbon Wesleyan Church, and the Church & Community Program are opening their doors and hearts to help promote food security for our patrons. Community members are invited to use and support these valuable services.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides breastfeeding support, nutrition counseling, health education, health care referrals, referrals to other services, and nutritious foods to approximately 425,000 women, infants and children each month through 91 local providers (hospitals, local health departments and community based organizations) at 400 service sites. The fundamental purpose of the program is to ensure the health and well-being of income eligible families with young children. WIC provides individually tailored food prescriptions issued to each participant for specific types and brands of foods that meet strict nutrition requirements. These food benefits, valued at nearly $400 million annually, can be redeemed at approximately 3,000 authorized retail food vendors across the state.
SNAP: The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) issues electronic benefits that can be used like cash to purchase food. SNAP helps low-income working people, senior citizens, the disabled and others feed their families. ABOUT US
In 2018, the Heuvelton Central School District became host to the first school-based food pantry in St. Lawrence County. Currently, the HCS Food Pantry is serving an average of 64 customers each month during pantry shopping hours and through the school district Backpack Program.
Like many local food pantry organizations, the Food Pantry at HCS receives New York State grants from the Food Bank of Central New York each year through The Federal Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP.) The USDA provides TEFAP with American-grown USDA Foods and administrative funds, enabling the program to supplement the diets of low-income individuals at no cost.
In addition to NYS grants, the Heuvelton Central School Food Pantry is the beneficiary of many private and community donations throughout the year. These donations include anonymous donations of money, student birthday fundraisers, and donations from community groups and local organizations. Please join us in thanking the following community partners for contributing to local food security in a meaningful way:
- The Community Support Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation https://nnycf.org/
- The Stewart’s Holiday Match Program https://www.stewartsshops.com/holiday-match/holiday-match-overview/
- The Kendrew Methodist Church
- The Girl Scouts
The Heuvelton School Food Pantry partners with the Bulldog Backpack Program, a school-based program run by the Heuvelton Teachers’ Association to pool resources and improve food security for district families and students. Enrolling in both programs helps provide food at lower costs, which means helping more families. To enroll in either program or to make a donation contact:
